Senior Arunima Vijay Receives Mellon Award

The Mellon Arts Innovation Grant funds creative projects that encourage interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaborations, with the larger goal of extending arts from Hopkins into the Baltimore community.

Arunima’s project will join artists and writers from Johns Hopkins University, MICA, Morgan State University, and Loyola University to create Charm City Stories: an art publication of responsive pieces inspired by stories of mental and physical health in Baltimore. Through a series of workshops, students will come together to create art that encourages reflection, and spreads the narratives of Baltimore city. Charm City Stories will be presented to the community in Spring 2018 at an exhibition hosted by the Center for Visual Arts, and will also be available for viewing online.
