An Nguyen is first author of “The acquisition of wh-questions: Beyond structural economy and input frequency,” written with advisor Prof. Geraldine Legendre. This paper was selected by the Language Acquisition editorial team as the 2022 best paper by an untenured scientist. An’s paper looks at factors that influence children’s comprehension and production of different syntactic variants.

Any paper whose first author is an untenured scientist (student or faculty) is eligible for this prize. Winners are determined by Language Acquisition Editorial Team, consisting of the Editor in Chief, Brief Articles Editors, Associate Editors and Managing Editor. Prize winners are announced in the first issue of the following year.

Congratulations, An! You deserve the fanfare at BUCLD 2022 – the annual conference on language acquisition – for this achievement.
